Versatile, fast, precise, powerful and competitively priced, Cincinnati Lamb’s U5 Universal Machining Center sets the standards for 5-sided or 5-axis machining. With its agile traverse and feed rates, the U5 maximizes large part processing for a wide range of applications.
Fully flexible and able to be configured to specific customer needs, the U5 is available in both bridge-type and rail-type configurations with a choice of process-matching spindle heads, the U5 is ideal for manufacturing a variety of materials in the aerospace, off-road, die/mold, packaging, power generation, and job shop industries. Rugged enough to support parts up to 20,000 pounds, the U5 can be configured for heavy equipment applications requiring high horsepower cuts. High-speed, 5-axis contouring can be achieved for aluminum aerospace applications.
Each model also has an optional automatic headchanger attachment. Automatic headchanging expands processing performance by allowing selection of the right head for the job. The standard vertical head, with its 50-taper spindle, offers the stiffness and power for full 30 hp cuts for heavy and fast stock removal. Beyond this are three other optional attachments, including a horizontal spindle head that indexes the C-axis in 1° increments to machine odd angle holes and surfaces; a contouring 2-axis gimbaled head for full 5-axis machining capability; and a high-speed, contouring head featureing the same benefits as the contouring head, but with a 21,000 rpm, 40 hp, HSK-63A spindle for added productivity.
For added performance and flexibility on the U5, automatic tool changer, chip conveyor, and enclosure options are also available.
